The Ankaykari are prolific writers. They are also rather self-absorbed and anxious about forgetting things, so I imagine that their libraries are filled with old journals. If they had the Internet, they’d probably be blogging and commenting on each other’s posts all the time. In fact, they’d utterly embrace the world of social media. They could keep in touch with each other without ever having to leave their strongholds.
I’m not quite so good at blogging. This is mainly because I spend most of my time working on the next novel, but even when I make changes and additions to the Askamar website I seldom bother to record them (posting that ‘I’ve improved so-and-so’s portrait’ or ‘I’ve re-written the page about such-and-such’ just doesn’t seem likely to interest anyone). I was planning to update my blog every week, but (surprise, surprise) that hasn’t happened.
Anyway, I’m going to try and do better from now on. I’ll think of more interesting things to say about my world, my characters and my writing, and I’m also planning to create more artwork. If all else fails, maybe I can get my characters to write some guest posts…
On another note, I can’t believe it’s only been a week since I finished the 1st draft of The Scepter of Ice. I’m already up to Chapter Five of the 2nd draft!
